Introduction

A student of Greek lore on the one hand and on the other of the Old Testament and of rabinical books and their description of the calamities that first visited Egypt, but later also the tribes of Israel for their iniquities, cannot but see the great difference in the attitude of the gods of the Greek pantheon that cause disturbances on Earth, but omit to connect them with any moral imperatives. Mount Sinai and Mount Olympus are two different, almost opposite symbolic structures.
